Two UltiMaker S6 Build Plate Configurations – Purpose-Built for Your Workflow
The UltiMaker S6 is available in two distinct configurations—one with a glass build plate and one with a flexible build plate—each engineered to support specific professional needs and industry standards. Whether you're focused on maintaining consistency across a fleet of machines or want a faster, more convenient print removal process, there's an S6 setup designed to fit your workflow.
Please Note: you cannot switch between glass and flex plates on one machine. They are two different build stacks.
Glass Build Plate
Ideal for labs, cleanroom environments, and customers needing regulatory compliance, the glass build plate offers a stable, smooth printing surface that's easy to sanitize. It’s the go-to option for users requiring FDA-compatible materials or a consistent experience across multiple units.
Glass Build Plate Benefits:
- Existing S5/S3 user base
- Medical Industry
- Food and Beverage Industry
- Sterile environment
- FDA and Food Safe regulation
- Easy to clean
Flexible Build Plate
The flexible build plate brings modern print convenience to your fingertips. It offers strong first-layer adhesion and effortless part removal—simply flex the plate and pop your part off. It’s a robust alternative to glass that minimizes breakage risk and helps reduce print failures.
Flexible Build Plate Benefits:
- Industry standard
- Updated perception
- Easier part removal
- Better adhesion
- Fewer print failures

Latest Ultimaker Innovation Powering the Ultimaker S6

Updated Feeder System
New hardened feeder module design inherited from Factor 4 for improved grip and better material control at high speeds.

Dual High Flow Print Cores
The dual extrusion design works together with software and firmware features to allow you to combine any 2 materials no matter how different they are, which low material waste and high reliability.

Optional EPA Filter
Independently tested to remove up to 95% of ultrafine particles to increase air quality peace of mind. The fully enclosed build chamber also boosts print quality.

High Flow Print Cores
The new AA+ and CC+ print cores, exclusive the the UltiMaker S8 have a new quad-chamber design that allows for 2.5x more flow and also help with regulating the pressure in the print head for cleaner prints.

Optional Flexible Build Plate
Skip using glue and remove parts effortlessly with the PEI-coated flexible build plate. Its patent-pending design uses 25 magnets and 4 pins for perfect alignment – reducing the time spent using the S6 and increasing productivity.

What UltiMaker's Partners Say

Volkswagen
"Last year, we produced around 1,000 different 3D printed parts. The benefits of these are improved ergonomics, productivity, and operator satisfaction. In the end, we get very good feedback from the operators working on the line."
Luis Pascoa, Pilot Plant Manager at Volkswagen Autoeuropa

Heineken
"So far in the pilots that have ran, we've significantly seen a cost reduction in the functional applications that we've found from 70 - 90%. On delivery time we've seen the same decrease."
Isabelle Haenen, Global Supply Chain Procurement at Heineken

ZEISS
"We chose UltiMaker because the machines are reliable and the results are repeatable. That's important for us, for a stable production process."
Johannes Grimm, Manager Operation Excellence at Carl Zeiss Optical Components

Ford
"If you compare our 3D printed tools to conventionally manufactured tools, we can easily save approximately €1,000 per tool, which is of course a lot when you consider all the tools which are needed to produce a vehicle."
Raphael Koch, Research Engineer R&A at Ford Europe
