3D printing, Worldwide, value forecasts($), 2014 – 2019  Forecast Revenue

3D printing products, materials, and services have been an emerging technology in the 21st century. Market forecasts of worldwide 3D printing show constant growth, with no signs of slowing down in the future. As educators, it is important to provide your students with 3D printing experiences today to give them a competitive edge tomorrow.

As an economics or business teacher, consider assigning students a project to design, market and sell. Why not let them design their own 3D-printed products? As a science teacher, imagine the possibilities if you could explore 3D models of chemical bonds, atomic structures, or DNA with your students?

Before you jump into purchasing and integrating this new tool into your classroom,

take a moment to consider the logistics and realities of becoming a 3D printer adopter. Please review the attached FAQ that was developed based on our organization's experience with an extensive research into classroom 3D printing.

What are the challenges?

Many first-time purchasers are so excited about 3D printing that they bought their printer without much forethought. They learn very quickly that 3D printing is more than just pressing a button! With over a decade of education and hands-on experience from our organization, we help you avoid the same pitfalls. Here are four things to consider before deciding to buy a 3D printer for your classroom or school:

Funding:

The main factor for implementing technology is usually cost. With the range of budget options now on the market, you can get a 3D printer from Ultimate 3D Printing Store for your school starting at $400. But how will you get the money to implement a printer inside your school? Check your school's technology budget; request funding from an affiliated group, such as your parent-teacher association; research local education grants; or start a fund raiser, either on line or through your classroom.

Learning goals:

Here at Ultimate 3D Printing Store, we help integrate new technology into your curriculum by making sure it will help meet your learning goals. 3D printing can make a lot of things possible that simply weren't feasible in the past. Teachers can use 3D design software to teach Common Core mathematics standards that align with ISTE standards, introducing concepts such as coordinate planes, geometry, area, perimeter and volume. Students can create 3D designs on Tinkercad.com, a simple and free modelling software, which is perfect for K-12 classrooms. Teachers then print the 3D designs for students to use, measure and prototype.

Printing time:

One drawback to 3D printing is the long print times. Print times vary depending on quality, size, detail and the printer, but printing one 2"x2"x0.5" 3D heart shape, for example, can take at least 20 minutes. A whole classroom's worth of 3D designs would take hours to print. However, you can keep the printer running in the background while you conduct class, as it doesn't require constant attention. We also have available safety enclosures with locks to prevent tampering with the printer while it's in operation.

Learning curve:

Teachers who embrace new technology often leap into 3D printing, but it is worth noting that 3D printing is part mechanical. There is an initial learning curve for both using the printer and for keeping it maintained and operational. The maintenance and repair is similar to working on a LaserJet printer without the expertise of local tech support.

One of the strong partnerships that Ultimate 3D Printing Store offers is superior support.

With our facility located in the Tampa Bay, FL area, we stock replacement parts to keep your printer up and running all year long. We also warehouse over 2,000 spools of filaments to keep you printing.

Which printer should I get?

Which printer should you choose? We are asked this question often, and our answer has always been, "It depends." There are four common categories for desktop printers: enthusiast, user-friendly, budget printers, and DIV kits.

Here at Ultimate JD Printing Store, we really care about helping you choose the right printer to meet your needs and the needs of your school. It is extremely important to review your specific needs and requirements. Let us help you identify not only the correct printer for your curriculum, but also which of our printer maintenance packages will keep your printer running all year long.

The price of 3D desktop printers has gone down in recent years, but the fact that they're more affordable has not impacted your ability to maintain and improve your machine's reliability and quality. As a result, it is more economical than ever to fit multiple printers into your budget.

CONSULTING SUPPORT TRAINING = ULTIMATE 3D PRINTING STORE

Ideally, your first 3D printer should be a user-friendly or budget printer, which is a small field. Here at Ultimate 3D Printing Store, we have reviewed several brands and have chosen the most reliable and easiest printers in the market.

What other materials do you need to buy to set up your printing lab?

Here's a list of all the things you need to have in the classroom when JD printing:

Bed adherence materials to prevent print warping. We supply every material from painter’s tape and glue sticks to professional 3D adhesives and surfaces.

Isopropyl alcohol spray to clean your print bed regularly.

Simple precision tools, such as tweezers, a scraper and wire cutters to remove prints from the bed and clean them up.

Tweezers, which you will need to remove strands of melted plastic.

Ziploc bags or storage bins to store filament in a low humidity environment.

Last but not least, PLA filament to print with!

PLA filament is the easiest and most widely used filament for schools. It does not require a heated bed surface and does not give off any strange odors when printing.  ABS plastic, which is not safe for classrooms, requires a heated bed and different materials.

Ultimate 3D Printing Store carries a vast array of PLA filaments. For example, 1 kilogram of PLA could make about 500 1-inch hollow cubes.

The advantage of working with Ultimate 3D Printing Store is that we don’t just sell the printer.

We can sell you a printer package that includes all of the items listed above, and more.

What kind of software do I need?

Every 3D printer comes with free, proprietary 3D slicing and printing software, unless it allows open source software. Cura, from Ultimaker, is the most popular open source software to use. For more advanced students, the software Simplify3D is highly recommended.

So, should I get into 3D printing or not?

The answer is absolutely yes! We believe 3D printing will continue to become an integral part of the future of education technology throughout the world. The technology of 3D printing is not going away.

If anything, it is only going to get bigger, stronger and better over the next several years. We have never seen technology that intrigues students in the way that 3D printing does. This technology allows them to creatively design and make their own prototypes. Even better, 3D design is so open-ended that it allows teachers and students to use their creativity to adapt it to any curriculum and standard.

3D printers are also the only tool we know of that combines Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.

If you're a technology or science teacher who is interested in teaching about engineering concepts, the JD-design-to-printing process is an effective, hands-on way to teach about the design and prototype process.

About The Owner

Background in Business and Marketing/Advertising

Roy Kirchner doesn't do idle.

On any given day, he is up and working before most people get out of bed, talking on the phone, sending emails, hosting on line meetings with clients, checking the news for the latest and most unique technology available - basically doing all he can do to build his brands. Kirchner, a nationally-recognized entrepreneur, business executive and automobile industry expert, refuses to submit to adversity and he's constantly looking out for the next big thing that other people have failed to recognize.

Kirchner currently owns Unlimited Media Marketing 365 Portal, www.umm365.com, a leading full-service marketing and on line advertising agency, and Be Different Agency. Under his corporate umbrella, he has a dozen projects up and running or in development. He refuses to sit back and let someone else chart the path.

His latest endeavor, Ultimate 3D Printing Store, is exactly that- the next big thing. Kirchner was an early advocate for the cutting edge 3D printer technology, and he quickly established himself as the go-to guru in Central Florida for all things related to 3D desktop printers. He cultivated a phenomenal relationship with Wanhao, the Chinese manufacturer of Wanhao 3D desktop printers, and used that partnership to develop and open one of the best online, e-commerce stores/learning centers for 3D desktop printers and everything 3D printing related. He understood early the fervor that people have for generating their own three-dimensional, fully-functional designs and capitalized on that curiosity.

But that's just his style.

Every new endeavor that he has approached, he has made his own.

Kirchner made his start in the auto industry selling cars and quickly became the epitome of a seasoned sales professional. Before most people his age had graduated college, Kirchner was breaking sales records and moving up the automotive dealership hierarchy in record time. He made the most of his experience in the auto industry, learning and absorbing critical knowledge about the relationship between sales and marketing. He took that knowledge next to Focus Inc., a Tampa-based direct marketing company. Kirchner helped Focus increase revenues by 10-percent per month, shattering previous Lead Generation records, and he suddenly found himself to be an in-demand speaker at some of the auto industry's largest and most prestigious annual events.

In 2010, he co-founded Viking Media Marketing and forged an exclusive business partnership with Star Performance Marketing, one of the 10 largest full-service automotive advertising agencies in the U.S. Working as part of a powerhouse team of young professionals, Kirchner's efforts helped the company triple its client list and revenues.

Whether irs creating an advertising campaign, developing and building websites, assisting auto dealers with lead generation and customer retention, selling promotional apparel or helping usher in the 3D printing revolution by offering affordable 3D desktop printers for families, students, companies, colleges and hobbyists to use, he can't help but stay in front of the latest trends and technologies.
