Bambu Lab R1
Big job. Light work.
A 55W CO2 laser cutter and engraver that combines deep cutting power, high-speed motion control, automatic alignment, and intelligent surface tracking to make ambitious projects faster, finer, and easier.
The desktop crafting revolution just got a massive, high-powered upgrade. If you thought Bambu Lab only dominated the 3D printing world, think again. The Bambu Lab R1 55W CO2 Laser Cutter and Engraver has officially arrived is here to turn your wildest design concepts into physical reality. Blending industrial-grade muscle with the smart, user-friendly motion control technology that made their 3D printers legendary, this desktop powerhouse makes heavy-duty laser crafting feel like absolute light work.
At the heart of the Bambu Lab R1 is a beastly 55W CO2 laser that packs a serious punch. Forget about the agonizingly slow, repetitive passes required by weaker diode lasers. The R1 can cleanly slice through materials like 18 mm walnut plywood and up to 20 mm thick clear acrylic in a single, effortless pass. Whether you are working with wood, leather, glass, fabric, slate, or anodized aluminum, the R1 brings out the absolute best texture and detail in every medium. It is a true multi-material workhorse engineered to scale up your projects from tabletop decor right up to full-sized custom furniture.
Space is always a premium in a workshop, which is why the R1 is such a game-changer. Bambu Lab engineered this machine to deliver a generous 600 × 300 mm standard work area, yet it boasts a footprint that is roughly one-third smaller than typical consumer CO2 lasers with equivalent capacity. But don't let the compact desktop design fool you—this machine loves a challenge. Need to go bigger? When paired with the optional Automatic Conveyor Feeder, the R1 can automatically feed and process raw stock up to 3 meters (3000 mm) long. From long-board signage to custom shelving panels, your creative boundaries just completely melted away.
Say goodbye to the absolute worst part of laser ownership: manual mirror alignment. Traditional CO2 lasers require tedious trial-and-error, thermal paper, and test shots just to calibrate the optical path. The R1 completely solves this headache with its Auto Laser Alignment system. Simply mount the optical sensor on the toolhead, and the machine measures, detects, and automatically corrects the beam path in about a single minute, hands-free. Furthermore, you don't even need a computer attached to get things moving. The built-in, responsive on-board touchscreen lets you monitor your jobs, check system health, and watch calibration happen in real time.
Precision is where the R1 truly flexing its tech DNA. Equipped with the innovative TriSense System, the machine utilizes a sophisticated array of cameras, lasers, and XY encoders to deliver a positioning accuracy within a razor-thin 0.2 mm. Its advanced height-sensing technology seamlessly tracks uneven or curved surfaces to keep your engraving perfectly sharp, and it remains flawlessly accurate even on notoriously difficult transparent materials like clear acrylic and glass. Plus, the high-resolution Toolhead Camera can automatically trace drawn outlines, trim printed stickers, or pinpoint tiny objects for ultra-fine detail placement.
Speed usually kills quality, but Bambu Lab’s world-renowned motion control has fixed that paradox. The R1 zips along at blazing engraving speeds up to 1000 mm/s with a mind-boggling 20,000 mm/s² acceleration, crushing standard jobs up to 3 times faster than standard consumer alternatives. To ensure your work stays crisp at these extreme speeds, built-in Vibration Compensation actively cancels out the split-second structural shakes that happen during sharp turns. To cap it all off, the smart machine automatically recognizes official Bambu Lab materials and instantly applies the perfect speed and power parameters. No more running endless test grids or wasting expensive blanks!
Best of all, the Bambu Lab R1 is thoughtfully designed to safely live in everyday creative spaces. In its standard configuration, it operates as a fully enclosed Class 1 laser safety device, meaning the laser radiation is entirely contained. You won't need a dedicated industrial ventilation bunker or funky safety goggles just to watch it work. Safety features like an instant lid-open stop, proactive flame detection sensors, and a dedicated physical emergency stop button give you complete peace of mind. Combined with its specialized Crossflow Ventilation that sweeps smoke evenly out of the chamber, it is clean, safe, and wildly efficient.
Ready to expand your workshop’s capabilities? The R1 ecosystem is fully modular. You can easily adapt your machine with the Riser Base to gain clearance for extra-tall objects, drop in the Rotary Attachment for stunning 360° engravings on glasses, tumblers, and bottles, or hook up the multi-layered E1 Pro Air Purifier to scrub odors and fine particles right at the source. The future of desktop fabrication has arrived, and it's faster, smarter, and more powerful than ever.
